YOU KNOW YOU’RE A MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER WHEN…

You pass out your business card that says ” Motivational Speaker, Keynote Presentations and Inspirational Humor” and the person looks at you and says, “okay, so what do you do?”

You know you’re a motivational speaker when…
you are constantly visiting book stores reading book titles that will give you a new avenue of possible material.

You know you’re a motivational speaker when…
you walk into a conference room, classroom, ballroom, gymnasium or stadium and ask “How can I make this  area feel up close and personal?”

You know you’re a motivational speaker when…
you walk into your day job with a name tag on.

You know you’re a motivational speaker when…
you want to avoid buffet lines, microphones, motel rooms, baggage claim areas and constant e-mail checks.

You know you’re a motivational speaker when…
you get asked to MC  your company’s holiday dinner, gratis of course.

You know you’re a motivational speaker when…
you do lots of these free bees and improtu addresses!

You know you’re a motivational speaker when…
your office is overstocked with dirty coffee cups from days and nights of  writing drafts of your next seminar or keynote presentation.

You know you’re a motivational speaker when…
you spend your weekends writing blogs and articles for publication on the world wide web.

You know you’re a motivational speaker when…
your family asks “so how was your trip to East Bug Tussel”?

You know you’re a motivation speaker when…
you try to shake hands with the mail man every morning.

You know you’re a motivational speaker when…
you try to see a positive story line in the fact that a groundhog not only invaded and trashed your garage but that you had to physically remove it!

You know you’re a motivational speaker when…
you spend your spare time working on getting work.

You know you’re a successful motivational speaker when…
the majority of listeners remain in their seats.

You know you’re a successful motivational speaker when…
you hear laughter from connectedness and not because your shirt is unbuttoned.

You know you’re a motivational speaker when…
you know you’re a motivational speaker…
you know you’re motivational…
you know you are…
you know…
YOU.

May you never keep lists of wrong doings….

May you always be kind and respectful with each other…

And may you always be best friends.

WHAT AN OCTOBER TO REMEMBER…

Friday, October 10th, 2008

This is not the time to spend hours watching CNN or reading the Wall Street Journal.  People are stressed, way too stressed.  Here in N.C. they are waiting in gas lines, watching their life savings melt away, hearing that “what we are headed for is far greater than the crash of 1929″ and spending their entire paychecks at the grocery store….never mind getting ready for winter and the cost of heating fuel. Having to deal with the up coming presidential election  and being asked to trust in the “shining house on the hill” to stabilize the country just about puts us all over the edge!   Enough stuff I say!   I believe it was Herbert Hoover who was talking about “A chicken in every pot” just before the crash of 29.  Well, it is time for us to create our own soup lines and bread lines.  How about a kettle of that corn chowdah and a basket of oatmeal bread!!!  Time to rally around the kitchen table with family and friends, time to tell folks how important they are to us and time to drink inexpensive wine, have long conversations and laugh at where we have been and what we have done.

We can make this a great October to remember!
